He has broad experience in working with the Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute, Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU), Food and Agriculture Organizations of United Nations (FAO), and Fleming Fund Country Grant to Bangladesh.    

Dr Nitish Debnath has worked as a Vice Chancellor, Dean, and Professor of Microbiology and Public Health of CVASU, and Senior Technical Advisor for One Health and Veterinary Education in FAO. 

Over the past few years, Dr. Debnath has been working with the Fleming Fund Country Grant to Bangladesh DAI Global as Team Lead. 

He relies on a vast network of professional experts of One Health: chairing One Health Bangladesh since its inception in 2008, member of the One Health High-Level Expert Panel (OHHLEP), a member of the Technical Advisory Panel of N4H, a member of the executive board of One Health Poultry Hub, a former member of the governing board of the International Association For Ecology and Health (IAEH) and Council on International Veterinary Medical Education (CIVME), former President of Bangladesh Veterinary Council (BVC) and former alternate member of the governing board of Pandemic Fund as representative of Civil Society, South.  

 

Dr. Nitish Debnath holds a degree of DVM from the Bangladesh Agricultural University, an MSc in Tropical Veterinary Medicine from the University of Edinburgh, and a Ph.D. in Virology from the University of Surrey.
