Junior Policy Officer/Assistant to the Secretary General of the PREZODE initiative

We are looking for a Junior Policy Officer to assist and provide support to the Secretary General of the PREZODE Initiative.

Mission

The Junior Policy Officer shall support the Secretary-General with the following tasks:

  • Preparation and follow-up of governing bodies and bilateral meetings.
  • Drafting reports and working documents.
  • Preparation of global events and missions of the SG/President or other PREZODE representative at global events.
  • Provide assistance and support in conducting election and voting procedures.
  • Manage the secretariat files, documents, calendars, etc.
  • Keep up-to-date relevant information for the SG and Secretariat members.

Skills and competencies

You have graduated with a university degree, preferably in Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Agriculture, or a related field to the scope of the initiative, and have 1-2 years of relevant experience.

You have developed the following skills:

  • Excellent spoken and written English skills (French language skills would be a plus).
  • Proficiency in office tools, calendar management, and videoconferencing.
  • Strong synthesis and writing abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Understanding of public administration operating methods.
  • Ability to comprehend complex environments and mechanisms.

You demonstrate the following human qualities:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong personal and work ethics.
  • Ability to work as a team member.

Specifics

  • Full-time position in Public Service.
  • Place of work: Brussels, Belgium. Please note that only candidates with a European Union work permit will be considered for this position.
  • 12-month contract (extendable once).
  • This vacancy closes on June 16, 2024.

About PREZODE

PREZODE (Preventing ZOonotic Disease Emergence) is an international One Health initiative. Launched in January 2021 during the One Planet Summit, this initiative brings together more than 240 actors from governments, research institutions, academia, civil societies, health agencies, and other relevant entities from all over the world. Its major ambition is to advance research, advocacy, and international collaborations to prevent, reduce and tackle the emergence of zoonotic diseases.

Its governance is organized around four main bodies: the General Assembly, the Steering Committee, the Donors Committee, and the Secretariat. The overarching goal of the Secretariat is to support the development, implementation, and success of the initiative by managing operational activities associated with the annual work plan. The Secretariat provides substantive support to the initiative's governance bodies, committees, working groups, partnerships, and memberships.
