Regional events and meetings

In the last trimester of 2024, representatives and members of PREZODE were invited to several regional events.

A High-level INRAE delegation traveled to Japan from Sept. 28 to Oct. 4 for the 20th Science and Technology in Society Forum, gathering global research leaders. This visit was an opportunity to strengthen key partnerships in Japan, highlighting PREZODE’s work and mission. A scientific workshop was organized at the French Embassy in Japan to present ongoing joint research projects, gathering participants from the National Agriculture and Food Research Organization (NARO), the University of Tokyo, and the University of Tsukuba.

In Kigali, Rwanda from 4 to 7 October 2023, delegates from 49 national medical associations around the world attended the annual General Assembly of the World Medical Association (WMA). The organizing committee of the Scientific Session invited the PREZODE initiative to participate in the Global Health Security meeting held on the 5th. Professor Musso Munyeme, the chairperson of the PREZODE Steering Committee, provided a presentation focused on “One Health Networking as a pre-emptive and sustainable option in Fighting Emerging Pandemics.”

On October 12, the French authorities presented France's Global Health Strategy to Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization. The strategy serves as a roadmap for all French stakeholders to meet the challenges of global health with a profoundly supportive and multilateral approach. During her speech, the French Minister of Higher Education and Research highlighted PREZODE's key role in preventing and reducing the risk of disease by fostering the necessary collaboration between countries and them by guiding to better prepare for and respond to public health emergencies and the consequences of climate change, with a "One Health" approach.

In Berlin on 12-13th October, Nitish Debnath and Sarah Olson, from our Steering Committee, along with Zeev Noga, Secretary General, participated in “The Breaking Barriers for One Health event” which aimed to shed light on the environmental component of the One Health concept and approach. The event was a great opportunity to interact and exchange ideas with numerous One Health experts from across the globe.

On 13th November, PREZODE Secretary General attended in Luxembourg the European Commission One Health conference. The conference focused on implementing the One Health approach in Europe, which includes incorporating climate change aspects and enhancing surveillance and early warning systems.
